Day 2 – Afternoon Tee-off’
The afternoon tee-offs played very cool for the start and after nine holes it was the established names of David Gleeson (AUS) and Tony Lascuna (PHL) who were toying at the top of the leaderboard. Sitting alongside was Guido Van der Valk. Four players only were under par and the tournament retirements slowly increased.
Tony Lascuna, a force to be reckoned with and a pedigree in Asian Golf that is hard to beat was using every ounce of his experience to master the intricacies of TCC. Even par on the first nine but maybe a hot afternoon and this testing course is taking its toll as he bogey’d the last four. A safe bet for the right side of the cut though.
Guido Van Der Valk (NL) is keeping things consistent and is right up there with the leading golfers and together with Kim Taehoon (KOR), the leading Korean, make up the top 5 on the leaderboard
Nicolas Paez (USA) is quietly sneaking up to the top of the leaderboard and the birdie at 10 and his eagle on 14 has definitely helped. After a very hot afternoon he is the only golfer under par from the late tee-offs and secured second spot on the board!
David Gleeson allowed his character to show through and the always available and affable Australian looked to be taming the course with a one under on his first nine. The second nine was a different matter though and he was disappointed with his finish to end on 5 over.
The cut has been set at +13 and it is still Prom Meesawat at the top of the leaderboard and raring to go for tomorrow’s third round together with a field of 69, including 1 Amateur.
