OneAsia is pleased to confirm that it is welcoming a good mix of regional players to the 2018 Q School at Sultan Abdul Aziz Golf & Country Club. The players have recognised that OneAsia is working hard behind the scenes to develop and nurture the players in the region and to create a Tour that truly develops the game of golf in the Asia region. With the top 20 players being eligible to play all full field events this year the Q School is the perfect opportunity for inclusion in the first year of OneAsia’s restructure.
Understanding that there is a big shift in Asian Golf and that the media attention it is already receiving will only increase in the future, OneAsia is working with component parts of the industry to harness the strengths of the region and such that the players will benefit.
OneAsia is also pleased to announce that two players on the international scene have chosen to join the Q School. Miguel Angel Jiminez Junior; whose father is one of the more notable names in the world of golf with numerous Tour titles to his name. His golf is very much ‘like father, like son’ and he plays with passion and openly admits to an aggressive streak. He says; “when I see the pin, I goes for it!”.
And the seasoned professional, Peter Karmis, who has been on the professional circuit since 2004 and has 26 top ten finishes to his name will also be playing. A regular on the South African Sunshine Tour he is looking to spread his wings in the Asian arena with OneAsia.
President & CEO Kuma Krishna Muthuraja said that: “It is great for us to have our boys from Asia at this year’s Q School. At OneAsia we are focused hard on supporting all our players in the region and having such international talent as Miguel and Peter join us only endorses this. There are more tournaments to come in the second half of 2018 including those already announced on the website and with 2019 OneAsia we are signing up new tournaments for all our golfers to enjoy.”
Together with its Q School Sponsor contributing $250 to the players fees, OneAsia aims to safeguard the interests of the players in the Asia region and the game of golf for Asia.
